Exercise Referral

Elaine is a fully qualified exercise referral specialist (level 3) having trained with The Wright Foundation in 2010.

Exercise referral is now used widely by GP's, hospitals and other health practitioners as a way to reduce the impact of certain illnesses such as diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, MS, heart disease. stress, depression, obesity, etc.

By using functional, exercise in a controlled, safe environment, you could soon improve the quality of your life, reduce your intake of prescribed medication and return to activities that your illness has prevented you from participating in. After an initial consultation and assessment, then Elaine writes an exercise programme tailored precisely to meet your needs and within the confines of your particular condition. This programme is reviewed on a regular basis.

If you want to know how Exercise Referral can help you, please call or email Elaine for help and advice.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Elaine trained as a specialist in PR in 2012. She holds a Level 4 Qualification.

PR has long been recognised by the NHS to dramatically improve the health and lifestyle for patients suffering with COPD - a term that refers to several pulmonary conditions such as Chronic Asthma, Emphysema, Chronic Bronchitis, etc.

She runs a group session for patients on a Tuesday at 2 pm @ Reach for Health in Daventry.

Patients are generally referred from Northampton General Hospital RESTART team, but if you suffer from this debilitating condition, please feel free to call Elaine for a friendly chat, and she will explain how functional exercises can really improve your life

Cardiac Rehabilitation

After qualifying in Level 4 Phase 4 Cardiac Rehabilitation, Elaine has recently (Jan 2017) started to instruct some new Cardiac Rehabilitation classes.

Following a severe cardiac event the patients would generally be asked to attend a hospital led Phase 3 cardiac Rehabilitation course, which would generally last between 6 and 10 weeks. This would ideally include education about diet, lifestyle etc.

After they hae successfully completed the hospital led programme they are given a referral form to pass to Elaine, who will personally meet or have a telephone consultation to introduce herself and advise on the class format. She will review their medication and identify any medications or other health issues that may affect the patient's ability to exercise. They will be asked if they have any particular concern or issues she may need to be aware of.

They are then invited to attend the sessions, where BP, HR, O2 levels are monitored in a relaxed but professional and safe environment.
